Rosewalls took another step towards cementing a finals spot, taking the points from an undermanned Hopmans outfit.
Hopmans captain Alan Smith was pulling his hair out trying to find replacements for himself and three other of his teammates, finally covering them with new comer Chris Langsford, Ian Yendall, Alan Homes and junior, Jack Taylor.
The night started well for Rosewalls, winning three from four of the opening doubles, only just losing the top double in a tie break.
Hopmans mounted a mini comeback in the singles by winning three out of the eight sets, giving them a slight chance going into the reverse doubles.
They were unlucky not to make bigger in roads, losing two sets in tie breaks, one being the Mills brothers rematch which Chris took the honours for the second time this season.
This match was played in front of a score of spectators as this was probably the last time these two will ever face each other with Chris moving to Adelaide next weekend, wishing him and Christie all the best for the future.
With the match all but decided, the reverse doubles were shared evenly, two apiece with the match to note here being Chris Langsford and Allan Homes just being pipped at the post in a hard fought tie break against Darren Barnard and Johny Lawson.
In the second Friday night match this season it was pleasing to see 30 to 40 people in the clubhouse at a time, enjoying a barbecue and watching the big screen.
Reminiscence of old times.
With a large crowd and under lights the stage was set for Newcombes v Courts.
Courts took an early lead winning three of the four first doubles.
The momentum continued to go the Courts way taking a huge lead after the singles.
A mention must go to Munya for being the only shining light for Newcombes winning two of the three matches.
A hard fought match in the singles saw Munya beat Di Rowe 9-7 in a tie breaker.
Solid wins to Nat Sichler, Leigh Brereton, Hogg Stringer and fill ins Keith Sichler and Ryan Hardman saw Courts move into an unbeatable position.
Newcombes came out swinging in the reverse doubles winning three of the four matches.
