On the perfect Sunday afternoon for football, the anticipated clash between the improving Roosters and the red hot Demons, proved to be a non event.
This was a danger game for the Demons, as Centrals had pushed league leaders West to their limits in their previous game, but this was not to be the case as Souths totally demolished Centrals by a staggering 85 points.
Souths opened the scoring early through the skipper, Ryan Baker, to give the Demons the start they wanted.
The Souths backline was on top and was providing plenty of run and setting up scoring options which Jarod Reid took full advantage of kicking two early goals, to give the Demons a 3 goal lead halfway through the first term.
South continued on their way as Col Sims won a 50/50 ball at half back, kicked long inside 50 to Eddie Wilson, who then goaled on the run to give the Demons a 28 point lead at quarter time.
In the second quarter, Souths started the same way they finished their first, with Eddie Wilson taking a hanger on the wing followed up by five bounces, a goal and a salute to the Taj Mahal on the Demon hill.
At this point Souths looked unstoppable but Centrals pushed all their big guns into the centre square to try and counter Souths domination.
Mark Turner, in the ruck, had his work cut out at the centre bounces but was doing good work around the ground.
Fabian Williams and the ever reliable Richie Burton were taking advantage of this as the Roosters were able to kick two late goals to go in at half time with a bit of confidence.
The third quarter was a lack lustre affair but started with big Peter Jackson kicking two early goals and South looking to stamp their authority by leading by 52 points.
Centrals could have chucked the towel in but they stood up and worked hard and if not for the defence of Gav Jonker, Col Sims and Steven Barford repelling everything Centrals gave them, they could have gone in with a sniff at the end of the third term.
The floodgates opened as the Demons kicked seven goals to one in the last quarter.
An early Eddie Wilson goal on the run followed by a Guy Sultan snap broke the Roosters back, giving the Demons an unassailable lead.
Tall Jacko was malicious up forward kicking five goals, although with inaccuaracy playing a small role in his game, this could have easily resulted in an easy eight.
Ryan Baker was back to his best winning plenty of the ball when the game was to be won, Gav Jonker kept the dangerous Holmes quiet and Ray McIntosh was his usual self.
For the Roosters Fabian Williams, Peter Carter, Richie Burton tried hard against the odds and never gave in all day.
The once unbeatable Centrals now have their backs against the wall, but I'm sure with a bit of hard work they are not far away from a win.
The Demons, on the other hand, are playing some top quality football and are giving their long time supporters something to cheer about.
