In the cut throat semi final at Bennett Oval on Saturday night, South Whyalla take on Roopena.
The Demon's form has been a bit up and down throughout the year.
They come into the game off a 93 point thrashing of Centrals and look to be finding the form that saw them early premiership favourites.
The Roos to have finally found some form, which has alluded them for the second half of the season.
After losing five games in a row they then thrashed the Bays and narrowly went down to the red-hot Magpies last week.
The teams have met on three previous occasions this season with the Demons victors each time and quite convincingly, but finals are a different kettle of fish.
Roopena are a finals hardened outfit having contested the past 10 or so finals series whereas the Demons are in their second final in seven years and this could be a factor in the result.
There is a lot to like about the Demons, their forward line is an excitement machine with the mercurial Dwayne Colson who has booted 50 goals for the season, six or seven of those would be goal of the year contenders.
Jarod Reid who has been quiet of late booted seven goals last week and his awareness and pace will be troubling for the Roo backline, then throw in Peter Jackson and skipper Ryan Baker and it's a forward capable of kicking a big score.
The midfield is all class led by the wizard Ray McIntosh arguably the best player in the competition and a favourite for the Whyalla News Medal.
Combine McIntosh with Brad Page, Guy Sultan, the workhorse Jimmy Martin and the lightening quick Eddie Wilson and South have a good mix of ballgetters and pace and a midfield that is capable of tearing any team apart.
They also have a solid defence, Gavin Jonker and Reggie Reid have made the transition for attack to defence with flying colours their run out of the backline and use of the ball has been behind a lot of demon victories
As for the Roos they to have quality players all over the ground.
Their forward line lead by Matt Mansfield who on his day can win a game off his own boot, Damien Hannamann and Paul Zucker if he starts up forward can all take big grabs and this could be an area where they can take advantage against a smaller South defence.
Their small forward brigade Guy Elliott, Dale Williams and Scrubby Nielsen are all livewires and capable of cutting apart any defence.
The Roos midfield is their strength, big Justin Grund in the ruck has gone from strength to strength and his ruck work has been exceptional.
Greg Fiebig has been in great form, he wins the hard ball and his work rate is second to none.
If he receives support from Jeff Ewings, Toto Bodinner and Ryan Burgess ( if fit ) they might just win enough of the ball around the contest to give themselves a real chance.
The defence is young and inexperienced and at times has relied to much on Kane Grund who has been sensational at full back and if his young teammates need any one to learn from he's a great example.
Sean Seely has been another shining light in the Roo defence and he will be looking to carry on that good form.
Zucker is another whose switch to defence has really added some strength and stability to the defence.
All in all this makes for an interesting battle but I think South looks the stronger team on paper and going on the previous encounters I think South will be to strong for Roos and march into a preliminary final , South by 33 points.
