The Magpies were far too good in all facets of the game, and no doubt will figure prominently when the finals are played in September.

North kicked to the southern end in the first quarter, which was favoured by a five goal breeze and they took full advantage by kicking 5-7 and keeping the Bays scoreless.

The second quarter saw the Bays kick an early goal through Andrew Hoffman, but this was to be its only score for the entire game.

North attacked continuously into the strong breeze and

peppered the goals.

However, they could only

manage 2-8 because the breeze blew several shots off line at the last moment.

The Magpies were impressive running the ball into attack and the team work was first class, with

players shepherding the man with the ball, so that he could dispose of it accurately.

It was strange to see the Bays

playing most of the quarter with only one forward, even though they had the advantage of the strong breeze.

North led by 7-13 to 1-0 at the long break and piled on 6-7 in the third quarter to go to a massive 80-point lead at the last change.

They were too big, too fast and too skilful for the Bays in what was

really a ‘one-horse’ race.

The Bays had last use of the breeze but Norths made up for their inaccuracy in the second term by kicking 5-2 into it this time.

North were most impressive and deserved their massive victory, but in fairness to the Bays they played the last two and a half quarters with no body on their interchange bench.

They only started the game with 20 players but lost Joel Bristow with a leg injury and another player as well.

They also played 12 players under 21 years of age.

Josh Trezise was best for Norths closely followed by full forward Nick Prokopec who kicked five goals, missed several others narrowly and handed off a few more.

Chad clothier was another to star with four goals while Nathan Wohling and Nathan Preiss also played well.

The Bays’ best was Lee Ringland.

He is having a very good year with his pace and hard running features of his game.

Nicky Jaritz defended dourly while Richard Green, Anthony How and Leon Burgan were others to ‘give it their all’.

The road ahead sees Norths coming up against Souths at the Memorial oval on Saturday, which should be a top class game, while Weeroona Bay will play Roopena at the Bennett Oval on the same day.
