North Whyalla easily defeated Roopena at Memorial Oval on Saturday to sound a warning to all that they are the real deal, and may be the best chance the club has had at winning a flag for a long time.

The second quarter started with a goal flurry for the ‘Pies, one goal to Medlin and two goals to Prokopec had the Roos reeling.
North were skirting the packs and meshing as a team, Josh Trezise, Seymour and Menzies were creating havoc insuring their forwards were getting plenty of opportunity.
Their use of the ball was impressive and if not for some great defensive work by Grund, Seeley Brereton and company, the damage could have been a lot worse.
Luke Seymour broke the goal drought with two quick goals.
Roopena’s two goals for the quarter came from Ewings and Zucker.
North’s defence continued to shut down any Roos attacks but were ably assisted by some terrible kicking to position by Roopena which not just missed their target but allowed the Magpies to rebound and put the pressure quickly back on the Roos defence.
By half time North had cleared out to be eight goals in front.
The question at the start of the third quarter was could Roopena get back into the contest.
That was quickly answered when the Magpie machine went into overdrive their run and clever use of the ball continued Trezise became even more damaging and is quickly becoming one of the best in and under players in the competition.
Daly kicked another two goals one snap shot on a tight angle was brilliant.
Preiss in ruck and Wohling, Grimm and Harding in defence ,Menzies, Seymour,Clothier around the football all contributing to the relentless pressure applied on the Roos defence and mid field.
With so many forward attacks the icing on the cake was Prokopec bagging three for the quarter to bring his tally to six for the game and a well-earned rest on the bench.
By three quarter time it was game over.
