Central's breaking chance

19 Aug, 2009 11:30 PM

Central Whyalla's round 16 game against in-form Weeroona Bay is their best chance this season to record their first win.

If Centrals don't win the boys will go through the season winless, which I believe will be a first for the club.

The Roosters have troubled the Bays in their previous three encounters this season, but if the Bays are not switched on, Central may just upset them - as I am quite sure they would not like to finish the season without winning a game.

On the other hand, Weeroona Bay has done that on a few occasions in the past and knows how it feels, so I am quite sure they will not show them any sympathy at all.

The Bays have been in great form of late, winning their last three games on the trot and beating two of the teams above them on the ladder - no doubt the Bays boys would like to keep this momentum going into the finals.

Central used very negative tactics against North last Friday night but persisting with these will play right into Weeroona Bay's hands, as the Bays team has some really good runners that are very hard to shut down for the entire game.

The Bays are the most improved players in the competition this year and are slowly getting it all together, while Central has been most disappointing and one wonders what the team's future holds.

If the Bays boys win it will assure them of a spot in the finals for the first time since 2005, and this alone should spur them on.

While the Roosters will throw everything at the Bays, I believe it will not be quite enough, and I am expecting Weeroona Bay to run out easy winners over Central, by 25 to 30 points.
