W/bay easily accounted for Central Whyalla Friday night and although the game never reached any great heights, some great individual performances made for an entertaining contest.
The Tigers won because of their superior leg speed around the packs, which caught the roosters out. W/bay kicked with the aid of a three-goal breeze and Central youngster Daniel Collison made his senior debut.
The first term opened with the Tigers attacking and they were rewarded at the two-minute mark when great play from Gericke resulted in a Colson goal.
The Tigers were attacking and hurting the Roosters with pace.
The likes of Edey, Gericke, Parker, Ringland were finding space and moving the ball quickly into their forward lines.
Against the tide Geddes found Vlachoulis who registered Central's first goal, but the Tigers were relentless and their onballers were having a field day.
Colson found Gericke to goal and when Andrew Hoffman and Edey combined to set up a Gary Hoffmann goal, one could sense the Roosters were in trouble.
Central were getting smashed in the midfield where only Geddes was offering any real resistance and when they did go forward the resolute Tiger defence were on top and skill errors let them down.
The illusive Edey goaled after a great run, minutes later Appleton snapped a miracle goal and two goals late in the quarter by Smythe and Edey capped off a great quarter and assured the Tigers of a six-goal lead.
Quarter time scores W/bay 7-1 to Central 1-0.
