The pretenders and the contenders

The Whyalla cricket community has two big crucial matches this weekend in the local cricket competition with both North Whyalla and West Whyalla wanting third place.

It will be a moment of truth to sort the pretenders from the contenders.

Just to be able to dream about a major upset and see it happen would, go a long way for North and West to cement their place in third position by knocking off Central Whyalla, who are now on top of the My Cricket Premiership Table, followed by Roopena with an inferior run rate.

It would be the injection in the arm that local cricket urgently needs to add a bit of spice and friendly rivalry between West and North when both next meet in three weeks time, as it will be when Central and Roopena meet on the same weekend, to sort out top spot.
