Rifle Club to play South on turf

The Rifle Club will meet South on turf at Memorial Oval on Saturday.

Rifle Club skipper Jason Hannan will square off South's Simon Trezise again for the two premiership points on offer.

South's Dwayne Loller and Nigel Rattley should be able to test Rifle Club's best offers Richard Coyne and Matt Dickenson, as turf plays different than a hard wicket.

It will be interesting to see if the match lasts the 40 overs and who will come out on top at the end.

East meets Left Hand Club

East meets the Left Hand club in a friendly but competitive match on Saturday afternoon at Schulz Reserve.

Left Hand Club's 'captain courageous', Leon Bain, will be out to steal the two premiership points from East captain Tim Mudge and deputy Mark Shilton.

Bain and his charges should be primed, with Jason Rae and Eric Hall ready to cut loose to counter Mudge and Shilton's dominance with the willow.

Left Hand Club's secret weapon, Brendan Raymond, may be the one to demolish East's batting firepower Jay Shambrook, Stevie Hunter and Luke Sandland.

Roopena wants to win

Roopena veterans Adam and Damien Skinner want to win against North's Greg Warner and Trent Place on Saturday afternoon when they battle at Central Oval.

Roopena's bowlers, led by Milind Salunke and Shannon Nielsen, will have their job cut out - especially if North top guns Derryn Franklin and Michael Gibbs back up Paul Chapman in an attempt to cause an upset for North.

North will surely miss Anthony Buono's contribution because he will be on inter-city duties, and will need Riley Sanders and Andrew Plunkett to step up to fill the void.

Central to defeat Iron Knob

Jubilee Park on Saturday afternoon will play host to Iron Knob and Central, which have not had many successes this summer.

Iron Knob stalwart Marcus Cleasby will take on the Central veteran Simon True in an effort to score their first premiership points.

Cleasby cannot expect Jason Casey to carry the load each weekend, as Ryan Discombe needs to show his face to ensure the boys from the Knob are competitive and have the will to win.

Central has Gary Hoffman and Mick Harvey starting to hit out and should be able to dispose of the boys from the Knob in style, helping Central record its first Christmas present.
