Local baker Alex Norris has been selected as one of the baking industry's leading bakers, in a competition conducted by Bakers Delight.

A proud employee of Bakers Delight Whyalla, 25-year-old Alex was nominated for the prestigious Gillespie Award by his bakery operator Stephen Lisk.

Alex was recognised as one of only 32 staff chosen from more than 15,000 employees nationwide for his exceptional achievements in the baking industry.

In recognition of his win, Alex will participate in the Gillespie Award career development workshop which is designed to foster ambitious talent at Bakers Delight.

During the course of the workshop, Alex also has the chance to win a $3000 scholarship towards becoming a franchisee through the Fresh Franchisee training program.
