Two designs for two possible art gallery locations

03 Nov, 2009 08:54 AM
The Civic Library and TAFE theatre are the two proposed locations for a new art gallery in Whyalla.

The council has designed two possible layout designs for each location.

The Civic Library building design divides the area into three separate rooms - exhibition space, manipulation/staff room and storage.

The exhibition space design contains three extra walls and a service desk.

Both designs are similar in that they are separated into areas with one serving as a permanent gallery, exhibiting the council's collection and the other hosting temporary exhibitions.

Project manager Paul Mazourek stated in a report that the different height and irregular shape of the additional walls in the Civic Library building symbolise the Flinders Ranges.

Both locations contain toilets, kitchen facilities, table and chairs for exhibition preparations and meetings.

The locations also offer a delivery point and storage areas.
