An 84-year-old woman has fractured her wrist and another woman was left with eight stitches after tripping over an uplifted Telstra grid.
Denise Lindsell tripped over the grid on Tuesday evening, receiving a large cut to her right knee which required eight stitches.
Ms Lindsell said she was disappointed that constant maintenance had not been conducted on Telstra's infrastructure throughout Whyalla.
"They should be going around fixing them, not waiting for someone to hurt themselves before they pay the site any attention," Ms Lindsell said.
Ms Lindsell's medical bills from the accident will be fully covered by Telstra, however she said she would have preferred the site to be fixed as soon as possible.
"Having injured myself has caused a lot of inconvenience," she said.
On Wednesday afternoon 84-year-old Joyce Nunn fell over the same grid, causing multiple injuries including a fractured wrist, a deep cut in her hand and severe bruising.
Mrs Nunn also continued to feel ill following her accident.
Mrs Nunn said she had noticed the uplifted grid on the street before, and thought the grid should have been properly maintained prior to the two accidents.
"The fall has really shaken me up," Mrs Nunn said.
"I've been feeling ill since I fell and am unable to move because of my fractured wrist.
"Businesses need to keep a constant check on their infrastructure to avoid these sorts of things happening."
Ms Lindsell said she reported her fall and the uplifted grid early Wednesday morning, and it wasn't until Mrs Nunn fell that orange paint, cones and a Telstra warning cage were placed over the grid.
Ms Lindsell said she hoped Telstra would keep a constant check on their property and infrastructure to ensure that these accidents don't occur again.
