The Smith Family helped prepare local students for the corporate world through a work ready 'Polish' program on Monday.
Eleven year 11 Eyre High School students attended the program where they were addressed by three professional presenters.
Students also mingled among local business guests from OneSteel Whyalla, Classic Health Gym and Access Working Careers.
The program is highly interactive in its methods, teaching students the importance of presentation, communication, personal grooming and hygiene standards demanded by employers.
Students took part in a sit-down lunch following the morning workshop, where they were encouraged to display their newfound etiquette and networking skills.
Smith Family local Learning for Life worker, William Binnie, said the program was brought to Whyalla with the assistance of Edward John Eyre High School counsellor Vicki Mudge to ensure local students received every opportunity for success in life beyond secondary school.
"The Smith Family aims to unlock opportunities for young people to participate more fully in society through education and learning opportunities and Polish is just one example of the personal development initiatives we're bringing to Whyalla," Mr Binnie said.
The Smith Family's 2009 Winter Appeal is now underway, aiming to raise $4 million nationally to ensure continued access to education and learning for students and their families nationally.
