New port still a priority

10 Jun, 2009 11:30 PM
A new export facility for the mining industry is still on the State Government's agenda, despite not allocating any funds towards the development in this year's budget.

The Government has listed overseeing the construction of an export facility at Port Bonython as one of its top priorities for the next 12 months.

The goal was outlined in the Government's 2009/10 Budget papers, released last week.

Under its 2009/10 mineral resource development targets, the Government lists, "Facilitating port and mining interests to secure development of Port Bonython to support mining exports".

The Government also lists its efforts to secure an export development at Port Bonython as one of its highlights for the 2008/09 year, stating it "assisted in identifying market opportunities for the development of Port Bonython to support mining exports through an expression of interest process".
