The combined Men's Group, consisting of residents from Copperhouse Court, Yeltana and Annie Lockwood aged care facilities, donated hand-made wooden toys and items to the Ladies Auxiliary this week.
Running since 2005 through the Whyalla Aged Care Lifestyle Department, the group is designed to help resident's access resources and use their skills to share with the wider community.
Men's Group members Albert Lindsay, Laurence Mills, Bruce Boase, Jim Bolt, Max Butterfield and Willie Geue have been working hard making wooden items to help raise funds for much needed resources.
Whyalla residents donated the wood, and some was recycled from Yeltana refurbishments.
Each article has been hand painted, and range from large dolls houses to smaller, and cuter, mouse shaped napkin holders.
Leisure and Lifestyle officer Rob Golding said residents really enjoy the Men's group.
"Everyone has been working on these articles for a while, and don't they look fantastic," Rob said.
"The Men's Group participate in a range of activities including gardening, happy hours, repairing furniture and listening to special guest speakers.
"It is wonderful that these men can share their wealth of knowledge and skills with the wider Whyalla community."
The combined Ladies Auxiliary from Copperhouse Court, Yeltana and Annie Lockwood were pleased to receive the donated items.
Ladies Auxiliary member Helen Custance said that all the wooden items will be on sale, or raffled to help raise funds for more resources.
"You can come and see any of the hand made items on display at Copperhouse Court and the Whyalla Aged Care facility in Newton Street," Helen said.
"They all look wonderful, there is nothing like handmade wooden toys, and these are great examples of handicraft.
"Any funds we raise will help to purchase equipment and resources for the three homes."
