Sisters Roxanne and Louise Dodd will be kicking it in Townsville for the first Indigenous SA soccer league in July.
Both Stuart high students Roxanne, 13, and Louise, 15, were the only two girls to be chosen from Whyalla for the girls 13 to 16-year-old indigenous SA community team.
Doubting they would make it through, the Dodd girls were excited when they got the confirmation letter last Tuesday.
The girls travelled to Port Augusta in May for two try outs among about 50 other girls from throughout the State.
On July 3 the sisters will travel to Townsville, Queensland where they will compete against other states until July 9.
Former Matilda player, Tracey Jenkins will coach the girls who have been chosen from community groups Ceduna, Whyalla, Port Augusta, Cooper Pedy, Mount Gambia and Adelaide.
The Dodds were proud to be representing Whyalla and their culture in the first year of the Indigenous soccer league.
Roxanne has a small head start on Louise as far as soccer skills go, as Roxanne began playing for Croatia under 13 soccer this year.
But they were both at the same level of excitement, and hope that they will bring home first place.
The week away will also include a soccer clinic with Adelaide United captain Travis Dodd and Perth Glory's Tanya Oxtoby.
The girls' parents were also just as proud as the girls.
