An army of more than 300 volunteers is hoped to turn out as part of Whyalla's contribution to the national Clean Up Australia Day, just under four weeks away, on March 4.
Whyalla City Council's clean up co-ordinator Joanne Peden said the community site would again be based at the Whyalla foreshore to ensure last year's efforts were reinforced.
"Depending on how many residents join us, we hope to have sufficient teams to focus on specific areas of the beach, Hummock Hill, Ada Ryan Gardens, sand dunes and mangroves," Ms Peden said.
Also in past years local divers have removed a diverse range of rubbish and deliberately dumped materials in the marina, while other community groups have targeted alternative areas of Whyalla.
"If you are one of these regular supporters I encourage you to register on the official national website (www.cleanup.org.au) and also let us know of your proposed site so that we can compile a list of the total effort by all volunteers," Ms Peden said
