Whyalla Chamber of Commerce and Industry has thrown its weight behind the super schools proposal for Whyalla.
The super school concept will introduce several precincts into the city delivering superior learning and support for children from birth to year 12.
According to the chamber, the benefits from this project will be not only been seen by the students and families, but the greater Whyalla community.
Having several well serviced locations will mean convenience for families creating a 'one stop shop' and the potential for additional services on site.
Chamber president Ron Hay said increased subject choices and availability in each location will mean that Whyalla's youth will be well educated in a contemporary and well resourced environment.
"The aging current infrastructure in our schools is in critical need of upgrading, now is a perfect time to implement the super school concept," he said.
"We understand that education is changing at a rapid rate due to changes in technology.
"Whyalla students should have access to these facilities to ensure the highest quality education".
The super schools will create seamless transitions between primary school, high school and tertiary education.
This will assist Whyalla's youth to further their education whilst meeting future industry demands.
"With projected workforce demands it is essential Whyalla schools are able to develop a skilled workforce to meet these demands that will be placed upon the region in the near future," Mr Hay said.
The opportunities this creates for local businesses and the economy is enormous.
With capital expenditure estimated at $35 million to $45 million, local businesses have the potential to capitalize either directly or indirectly through increased expenditure in the city.
"This is yet another project where local businesses and the community can benefit," Mr Hay said.
"Education is a critical component to creating a vibrant city of the future.
"As industry demands change so must the learning environment to ensure that the youth of Whyalla are receiving the best possible education for future employment opportunities."
