Roger Thompson recently got a shock when he walked into his backyard to water his pumpkin patch and found an enormous pumpkin in the place of his previously small one.
Planted in October, 2009, Mr Thompson's big max pumpkin had grown to 1330mm around and weighed 23kg.
Mr Thompson graciously donated, what could be a prize-winning vegetable, to Amaroo Lodge.
Amaroo Lodge manager Diana Warner accepted the pumpkin from Mr Thompson and said she planned to make pumpkin scones, pumpkin pie and pumpkin soup for the residents.
However, she said she would not cut up the 23kg pumpkin before all of the residents had the chance to have a look at it.
"This pumpkin is a great stimulus for the residents of Amaroo Lodge," Mr Thompson said.
"It allows for a bit of excitement for them."
The pumpkin donated to Amaroo Lodge was the first of many pumpkins to come off of Mr Thompson's pumpkin patch, and he is hoping to find more of this size in the coming weeks.
