860km uranium utopia

UraniumSA (USA) will vastly expand its mining explorations near Whyalla to cover a 75km stretch of the Spencer Gulf coastline.

Company managing director Russel Bluck said more than 860 square kilometres would be explored across three licences.

"The city of Whyalla is in the north of the area, but is effectively excluded from the tenure," he said in a statement this week.

"To the south, the tenements surround the Munyaroo Conservation Park...the tenure package extends 75km northeast-southwest."

Mr Bluck said the Blackbush Prospect at Mullaquana continued to be a focal point for investment.

"USA is continuing its evaluation of the Blackbush Prospect with the objective of commencing a 100 tonne per annum field leach trial for in-situ mining as soon as is practicable," he said.

"USA is continuing regional traverse drilling away from Blackbush at 800m to several kilometre step-outs.

"This drilling will continue for the next several work rotations while preparations are being made to commence pattern drilling at the Blackbush Prospect."

USA also announced the successful raising of $1.47 million through a non-renounceable rights issue this week.

"Proceeds will be used for further drilling and development at the Blackbush Prospect within the wholly-owned Mullaquana Project, and exploration elsewhere within the project area," Mr Bluck said.

"At Blackbush, potential ore grade mineralisation extends for 1.6km along strike with a width of 1.3km and average thickness of 5.6m."

The company received applications in excess of the 21 million fully paid ordinary shares, which were the subject of the issue as a number of shareholders applied for additional shares.

"This oversubscription is seen by directors as a vote of confidence by the equities markets in the future of uranium and in UraniumSA's strategy, in its ability to build on the potential of its Mullaquana uranium discoveries, and the prospectivity of the company's South Australian exploration acreage," Mr Bluck added.
