$50,000 wasted

Whyalla City Council spends about $50,000 per year cleaning up Whyalla's foreshore and Civic Park areas.

Whyalla City Council senior legislation compliance officer Ronald Versteegh said the council was continuously cleaning up Whyalla's foreshore and Civic Park, as well as other public facilities.

Mr Versteegh said he believed this money could be better spent, but the council was forced to continue to spend the money as a result of careless and reckless residents.

"$50,000 could go to a lot better use," he said.

"That money could be used for other areas to improve the areas, instead of having to pick up after other people."
