A family picked up the charred remains of their kitchen last weekend after a fire, believed to have been started by a faulty toaster, caused about $22,000 damage.
Fire, police, State Emergency Services, ambulance, Housing Trust and ETSA officials went to the house on Galpin Street soon after the fire stared at 6.30pm on Friday night.
Senior firefighter Andrew Higgins said the kitchen was well involved in flames, which had reached the roof.
He said the fire was being treated as accidental and no one was injured.
Mr Higgins said four appliances and 12 firefighters battled the blaze with scorching weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Fire Services (MFS) has renewed warnings to home owners to take extra precautions during hot weather conditions.
All compounds with dried leaves and branches should be cleaned up.
